This stunning private two bedroom villa is set in a large, lush tropical garden near the rice fields of Penestanan, 5 minutes by taxi or a pleasant 20 minutes walk from the centre of Ubud.
The villa and garden are totally secluded and secure, being surrounded by a high wall, but antique carved doors lead to a terrace with views over the village. The terrace is roofed and has comfortable furniture for enjoying meals or sundowners. There is a 2m drop to the public path below which keeps the terrace private but still a wonderful place to watch and interact with the local people going about their daily lives. When you are ready for cloistered time just shut the doors and leave the world outside.
The 10m swimming pool is right next to the living area out of bed in the morning, two steps and you are in the pool one guest wrote in a review. And not being overlooked you don’t have to waste time putting a swimming costume on!
Villa Mimpi was built as a second home for the owners. It is on a 600 sqm block three times the size of many other villas in the area. They chose high quality fittings to make a luxury home away from home and they enjoyed shopping for the recycled teak furniture, statues and art work. They visit several times a year and ensure that everything is well maintained. They buy a few more orchids each trip and an orchid specialist comes each week to tend to them.
They love to share Villa Mimpi with their friends and paying guests but in order to keep it at the highest standard they allow no more than four guests.
A relaxing and rejuvenating break awaits you laze in the thatched gazebo watching the koi glide languidly in the pond, swim in the sparkling pool, siesta peacefully on the daybed in the living area or choose a book from our small library and read it on the terrace overlooking the village. This is your villa to enjoy in complete seclusion.
Villa Mimpi is situated 300 metres down a path off the main Penestanan road, to a junction of several small streams – part of the World Heritage listed Subak irrigation system.
Villa staff will meet you when you arrive and carry your luggage down the path. They will reappear to make your breakfast at a pre-arranged time, discreetly clean and tidy the villa and pool.
Penestanan is a lively farming village with many good inexpensive restaurants, artist’s studios, galleries and magical spas. Tourists are well catered for but there are still many more local people than visitors. There are endless small paths to explore through the village and surrounding rice fields. Ubud town centre is a 5 minute taxi ride or 20 minute walk away. Cycling is an ideal way to discover the quiet back-roads to neighbouring villages.
